Venezuela and Nicaragua are the two countries in the region where most acts of intimidation and reprisals have been specifically recorded.
The cases are predominantly against named individuals working to defend civil and political rights and accountability for impunity. The main types of reprisals observed in the region are threats and intimidation and defamation.
