East Asia and Pacific
Over 17% of all reprisals documented in the Secretary General reports since 2010 are in the East Asia and Pacific region.
Vietnam, China and the Philippines are the three countries in the region where most acts of intimidation and reprisals have been specifically recorded.
The cases are predominantly against named individuals working to defend civil and political rights, as well as religious freedom. The main types of reprisals observed in the region are threats and intimidation, defamation and surveillance.
