Summary of cases Afghanistan 40. Several United Nations actors documented reprisals against individuals, including women, for their cooperation with the United Nations. The de facto authorities continued to impose restrictions that contributed to a climate of fear, resulting in self-censorship and, in some instances, limited interactions with the United Nations due to fear of reprisals. Algeria 41. Special procedure mandate holders addressed the dissolution of the Ligue Algérienne pour la Défense des Droits de l’Homme and drew attention to reported obstacles in law and practice to the engagement of civil society organizations with international organizations, including the United Nations. They expressed concerns that Ligue members Ms. Jamila Loukil and Mr. Kaddour Chouicha had reportedly faced obstacles in regard to, and reprisals in connection with, their participation in the fourth cycle of the universal periodic review of Algeria. Andorra 42. Annex II contains information on developments in the situation of Ms. Vanessa Mendoza Cortés from the Associació Stop Violències Andorra. 43. The Government responded to the note verbale sent in connection to the present report. Bahrain 44. Annex II contains information on developments in the situation of Mr. Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, Mr. Abduljalil Al-Singace, Mr. Sayed Ahmed Al-Wadaei, Mr. Sayed Nazar Naama Baqqer Ali Yusuf Alwadaei and Mr. Hassan Mushaima. 45. The Government responded to the note verbale sent in connection with the present report. Bangladesh 46. OHCHR documented surveillance and intimidation of some civil society representatives who met with the former High Commissioner during her visit to Bangladesh in 2022. After the visit, Ms. Sanjida Islam Tulee and other members of the Maayer Daak association allegedly received threatening calls and visits by police officers, and came under increased surveillance. Ms. Islam Tulee reportedly faced a smear campaign.33 47. Civil society representatives reportedly faced intimidation and reprisals by both State and non-State actors prior to and/or after their engagement with the United Nations during the reporting period.
