Around 7% of all reprisals documented in the Secretary General reports since 2010 are in Europe and Central Asia.
Uzbekistan, followed by Belarus and Hungary are the three countries in the region where most acts of intimidation and reprisals have been specifically recorded.
The cases are predominantly against named individuals working to defend civil and political rights, economic, social and cultural rights, as well as migrants rights. The main types of reprisals observed in the region are mainly threats and intimidation, followed by detention/imprisonment.
